Prima Packaging Sdn. Bhd. ("Prima Packaging") is a leading industrial metal container manufacturer in Malaysia, producing in excess of 8 million pails and cans annually to serve the needs of over 200 customers. Operating out of a modern factory on a five acre site in Shah Alam, Prima Packaging's products are distributed nationwide in Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah and Sarawak. Prima Packaging has also penetrated the Asian region and we count the following countries as amongst our important export markets:- Singapore, Myanmar, Vietnam, the Philippines and India.

Prima Packaging was formed in 1974 principally to service the paint industry. Throughout the years, business expanded, product range was increased and its pails and cans found usage in new applications and industries. In 1992, the company undertook a RM 18 million expansion which entailed the construction of a new factory and the acquisition of new automated industries. The higher production capacity and efficiency was targeted to serve the growing market while the automated technologies reinforced the company's competitive edge. In 1999, the company was wholly acquired by Pintaras Jaya Berhad, a company listed on the Main Board Of the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange. Following this acquisition, the company was renamed Prima Packaging Sdn Bhd.

Prima Packaging's automated pail line is the first of its kind in Malaysia. This line is capable of producing both open-head and tight-head pails ranging in capacities from 10 to 25 litres with very little changeover time.

Two automated can lines produce cans of sizes between 1 litre and 7 litres. Two semi automated can lines manufacture smaller diameter general cans, confectionery cans and ink cans. The in-house printing facility enables Prima Packaging to customize its containers to customers' designs, colours and other requirements. The company is the first to introduce the welded rivet / flange on plastic handle for general cans in the Malaysian market.

Products

Prima Packaging manufactures metal pails and cans of various sizes.

Metal pails consist of two types: Lugged cover pails and tight head pails. The sizes manufactured are 10, 18, 20 and 25 litres.

Metal cans sizes are from 100ml to 7 litres. The common sizes manufactured are 100ml, 280ml, 1 litres, 2.5 litres, 2 kg, 1 US gal, 4 litres, 5 litres and 7 litres. Confectionery cans are of various sizes. The ink cans are mainly of the 1 kg and 2 kg types.

The pails and cans are used in the paint, chemical, lacquer, motor oil, ink, confectionery and food industries.

Externally, the pails and cans are printed in process or solid colours and internally, they can be gold lacquered. Screwcaps and flexspouts fitted onto the covers are offered as optional accessories.

Prima Packaging also markets printed metal plates and undertakes contract printing.
